Perception and Realities: The science of theatre

Mark Lythgoe 14th June 2004 Purcell Room, Royal Festival Hall, London

As part of the LIFT Enquiry into the nature of theatre, Dr Mark Lythgoe, neurophysiologist, shares the findings of his collaboration with the theatre director Katie Mitchell and writer Caryl Churchill. On the evening of 14 June, Mark along with three actors will examine the role of our perceptual system in both the creation and appreciation of the theatre. Together Mark, Katie and Caryl have created a series of experimental performances that aim to investigate various perceptual phenomena, such as ambiguity, and their contribution to performance.
