This image is part of an on-going project combining art and science which aims to create a bridge between what we see and the way we see it.

Penumbra integrates scientific and human imagery using a magnetic resonance image (MRI) of cortical brain with a magnified image of the skin (*50). The images denotes not only the human element of trauma, but also the complex relationship to the passage of time and the encompassing effects of today's technology.
